Winning Hand
Tonight in Thursday night poker, I took home $10 -- my biggest win ever. That may not seem a lot to hardcore poker players, but we only have a $10 buy in. I won a $12 pot with 4 6's (we were playing follow the queens and I had two wilds). Unfortunately, I need to win 4 more weeks like that in order to bring me to positive ground. I'm getting much better though.Posted by phil at 11:07 PM | Comments (0) | TrackBack

LJ Test
Testing... LJ fans, if you are reading this then we are back in service. For the curious minds, it only took about three hours of looking through Perl code in Movable Type and the LJ Post plugin. Apparently, in MT 3.x, they changed the name of the username field of the login page, which conflicted with the username field for the Live Journal settings. The request parameters in the POST to the Perl module on the server overwrote the MT username with the LJ username. I simply had to rename the form input field and the places in the Perl code that referenced it.Posted by phil at 09:42 PM | Comments (0) | TrackBack

Google Maps
Google Maps launched today. Now, I love Google for most searches and most everything they've done, but prior to today, Yahoo has been my internet conglomerate of choice for local and map services. Google local results are still a bit lacking to the wealth of information you can obtain from Yahoo! local results, including editable listings like the one I did for my mom's business. Yahoo Maps also now includes traffic reports (in select areas, but between Baltimore and DC is covered), which is incredibly convenient. But the thing Google now has going for them is the quality and navigability (yes, that's a word) of their maps. You can easily navigate with your keyboard and zoom with the + and - keys. The details of the maps are very crisp and the page doesn't need to reload when you change map views. Check it out.Posted by phil at 12:04 AM | Comments (0) | TrackBack
