Digital Photo Organization
This article discusses digital photo archiving, organizing, and processing nicely. I really wish I could better-organize my digital photo collection, especially since I tend to take a lot of pictures. I'd really love to tag all my images with keywords and organize them better.
Currently I am trying out Picasa, which is pretty good, but definitely has its limitations. I'm probably asking to much to have an all-in-one application that does everything I want it to. Aside from Picasa, I also use Photoshop and Gallery in order to manipulate and web-publish my photos. I would like to try out Photoshop Elements and find out how it differs from Photoshop.
My photo suite wish list:
- Better integrate my full archive on my hard drive with the photos I want to publish on my website
- Mark photos locally that I want to publish to the web
- Easily mark photos with meta-data keywords, including marking a group of photos with a set of keywords
- Keep photo storage separate from their presentation
- Link photo subjects to locations/maps, address book/contact information
I wish I had the time to develop my own application. Leave a comment if you have any suggestions for applications to try out.
