Back

I'm back in Rochester. I don't have any other immediate trips. Maryland and Massachusetts were good; Maryland was better. It was so beautiful down there. More to come, maybe. Lots of work to do for now.

Monday?

Being out of town for so long really screwed up my biological clock. I still think it's Monday.

Still catching up...

Accepted

Well, folks, as of about 4:55 PM on Friday, May 7, 2004, I accepted a full-time job with a company in MD. It feels good. I had to fax back my offer letter. It cost me $6.50 at Kinkos. Kinkos... I just realized what a weird name that is.

Anyway... Today, I completed my mandatory within three days of acceptance drug test. Fun, fun. Shouldn't have any problems there. I mean, you'd be stupid to even apply to such a place if you're using. But I'm sure there are those who think they can get around it. I made sure I drank LOTS of water before going to the "pee in a cup" place. I learned last time. It took me almost an hour to have to go. And then I drank TOO much water and boy was my bladder ready to burst. This time, I couldn't wait to go once I got in the door. Anyway, enough about pee. Have a great weekend, dear readers!

Colony Party

It looks like I missed a big party over the weekend. Well, the police seemed to think it was a riot. Crazy!

Sandwich

I usually make myself a lunch to bring to school every day. Occasionally, I'll grab something from Sandella's because it's conveniently located at the front of our building. Recently, I've been getting their Hummus Wrap, which has hummus, ranch dressing, lettuce, and cucumber; it's the cheapest wrap they have!

The other day I went to Tops instead of my usual Wegman's because it was conveniently located. Normally I buy my stuff for making lunches for the week, which usually means Healthy Choice Honey Smoked Turkey Breast and cheese. Well, at 6:30 on a Monday, they had one employee working the deli and there was a huge line! I was most disappointed; Wegman's always has plenty of deli staff. So I said screw it, I'll go the veggie route and duplicate the Sandella's wrap. Roasted Red Pepper hummus, which was difficult to find in my non-regular grocery store. Mmm. It works well on bread, too. Healthy and delightful. A refreshing change from my usual turkey sandwich.

Official

Oh, by the way, I'm officially hired at my new company. My start date is June 14th. The had told me yesterday that my application verification process and awaiting the drug test results would take 7 to 10 days, so I was surprised. But everything has been finalized and I'm ready to go. The first day consists of an orientation in Virginia, somewhere near DC.

Last Class

I just finished my last class ever, here at RIT. It feels good. We even got out a bit early. I had a paper due, and, honestly, it's not my best work, because I did it at the last minute and this class was lower on my priority scale than senior project, for example. Plus, I already have an A average in the class.

So anyway, graduation is next Saturday. Woo hoo! I finally did it. Thankfully, I also have a job waiting for me. *sigh of relief*

Tonight our senior project team is going out to dinner with our project sponsor and faculty advisor, who is also the department chair. They were both great people to work with. Maybe more on this later... Going to Pomodoro's Grill in Rochester.

Finals Week

Well, it's finals week and I'm done with finals. I just had one yesterday in Social Change; it was pretty easy.

In terms of school, all I have left is:

  • Wrap up things with senior project

  • Finish digital photo project

  • Finish grading

  • Put in a few more hours at work

Then all that's left is convocation and graduation. Lots of family and extended family coming up for that. Then Monday I'm off to Maryland to find a place to live.

Grading Complete

I just finished grading my last Computer Science lab every. Feels good. Doing the lab instructor thing really sparked my interested in possibly teaching in the future, though. We'll see what happens.

Moving

So, I've graduated! And since then, I've been busy with going down to MD to find a place to live, and now packing in order to move tomorrow. I'll be living in Laurel, MD in a really nice place. Things are happening so quickly, it's hard to believe. Oh, and I got a 4.0 my last quarter at RIT. Woo hoo!
