Happy Birthday Google
I love when Google has a modified logo for holidays and events, like the current one for their fifth birthday.

Nothing really compares to Google. Nothing. And check out their improved toolbar; I've installed it at home and work.

Labor Day Vacation
Because I'm need a break from what I'm doing at work, I thought I'd document my 10 day Labor Day "weekend." I went to Sean's in Oswego, home in Wilkes-Barre, and Maria's in Philly, fell asleep for three hours in a downtown Philly parking lot, fell in love with IKEA and spent $120 there over 3 days, got stuck in Philly for an extra day because the transmission fluid in my mom's car suddenly overflowed, saw Beat the Donkey with my Aunt Debb, wished my dad goodbye on his birthday, and bought rollerblades. In addition, I saw a bunch of other friends and family and did countless other less noteworthy or forgotten things.

Two Years Later
The images still bring tears to my eyes and a heaviness in my chest. I still remember the day that affected us all so much. There's not much else I can say, really, but my heart is still with the families who have lost and with those overseas. Peace out.

Odd T-Shirt
While wandering about Building 70, home of GCCIS, I saw a kid with a t-shirt, reading "SATAN IS A NERD." Ok, whatever.

Note on My Car
I went out to my car before to go out to the store, and this note was on my windshield:
Please don't take this as criticism...
Please leave enough room for a third car... parking can be a pain and space is valuable.
Thanks,
Chris
(a Meigs Street resident)
When I first noticed the note, placed under the wiper, I thought it was a ticket. But I didn't do anything wrong!!! Alas, it was just a neighbor complaining about parking. But they weren't criticizing. No, I understand, because parking is an issue, but this wasn't my fault. I parked as close as I could to the "No parking here to corner" sign, and I was the first to park in that area that can fit three cars. However, the other car could have pulled up more and I didn't see a note on their car.

Software Industry
Outsourcing and cheap labor are becoming more prevalent and thus problematic in the software industry, too. One engineer speaks out. I echo her sentiments as I've begun looking for a full time job myself.
Here's a related blog on the future of Silicon Valley.

Home on a Wednesday Night
Yes, that's right. It's Wednesday, just before 9 pm and I'm home. Normally I work at Friday's all night and don't get home until around 1 am (Thursday) when I close. Tonight, however, I was scheduled to be the first out busser tonight, and once the restaurant crowd died down a little, I was able to leave.
An odd thing happened tonight at work. I introduced myself to a new manager, and he said that we already met. He insisted that we met and spoke with one another last week. I honestly don't remember doing so. There were two other managers that I saw that night, but I don't remember seeing him, let alone talking to him. I am usually good at remembering faces, but names are another story. I suppose he looks slightly familiar, but it baffles me. Could my memory be going on vacation so soon?

Recall and Hollywood Couple
The on-again off-again California recall election is almost as bad as a certain Hollywood couple's relationship. I'm sick of hearing about it all. I'm tempted to not bring either up because they have enough attention already, but I just thought I'd point out how one situation reminds me of the other.

Garbage Night
It's garbage night. The pickers are out.
In other news, I thought I was going to get out early tonight from Friday's, but I misread the schedule and was there until a little after midnight. *sigh*
I'm looking forward to going to Boston this weekend with Sean. I've never been there and it should be fun. But first, we're going down to Wilkes-Barre to pick up my parents' Contour. Actually, now it's going to be my Contour. I'm dropping off the Jeep and am buying the Contour from them. Yay!

West Wing
Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! I missed West Wing. I totally forgot. And if I got out of work when I thought I was going to, I would have made it home in time. If anyone has a tape or knows someone with one, please let me know.
