Mud Volleyball
All of my posts lately and some yet to be have been and will be about things that happened quite a few days before the posting. However, it's nice to have time to process things and then go back and reflect. I also have time to think about what I'll write. Now this one won't be very long but I just wanted to point that out. Now for the muddy blog...
Last Friday was our company picnic. It's a great bunch that I work with. The day was hot and sunny but the sky was a bit hazy. We had a few good hours for some horseshoeing, basketballing, and one round of volleyballing. We finished that round of volleyball and as we went for a drink break the sky opened up and down came buckets of rain. We sat around and drank and snacked for a while but we couldn't just sit there under the pavilion (what a blessing that was though!). How about some volleyball in the rain and muddy grass (or lack thereof)? It sounds a lot better when you've had a few drinks in you. So we proceeded to play a game in the pouring rain and mud, barefoot no less. We all decided to take off our shoes before going out to play. The mud, mostly soft and cushiony, feels nice on the bare feet, but not when you step on a sharp rock. Ouch!
>And so it goes. Things can be going smoothly, softly and once in a while you'll step on a rock, maybe get rained on. Our feet were dirty but our heads were clean. You may not always have an umbrella so be prepared to soak it up and then put on a dry shirt later. That's what we did -- we all put our green ones on. For the remainder of the afternoon, everyone else knew who was playing volleyball in the rain and mud.
